Can you imagine if every significant card had its grading history on it people would be shocked. My favorite stories are those where in addition to wildly divergent grades, they are rejected a couple of times along the way to the final slab.

this would make for some very interesting reads.

What about the e90-1 Young do you like so much? Interesting choice considering all the amazing cards that you have owned.

I guess it's the bright red background. Maybe because on the E90-1 Young portrait cards, I always try to find their problem(s) keeping them from greatness when I see them. They are quite scarce in high grade (5 and up) but not so much in regular conditions (4 and less). On this particular one my eyes search for an issue and they can't find one. Of course it's not perfect but the centering, focus, color, corners etc...are all fairly spot on, and it's the highest graded in the hobby, though that is beside the point. There are a few handfuls of cards I have always thought were great representatives of prewar cards and this one is near the top. The T205 Cobb, M101-4 Ruth (never had one), Goudey 144 Ruth, T3 Cobb....(I could go on) all stalwarts to me.

I should add that it is far and away my favorite card from the series, and we all know it's the major early caramel set, as T206 is to early tobacco sets.

How could any serious collector not love the E90-1 Young Boston? Among major HOF'ers in the set I feel it is by far the most attractive card. What sort of interests me is the sheer unattractiveness of the other Cy in the set, his Cleveland card, which is also found in a couple of other E-card sets, such as the E92. All it looks like to me is a generic action shot of a baseball pitcher. For a while, believe it or not, the SMR showed the Cleveland copy as more expensive than the Boston. What were they thinking? And Leon if you are going to do any estate planning in the near future, you know Cy will always be welcomed and nutured by me. John
