Nice stuff all! Great eye appeal on all the latest pickups.

Keep them coming.

Like what is mentioned in a current auction on here, this is a tough card to get.

Pretty happy with this purchase as I have wanted one for a while now. :D

Thank, Neal.

That white dot/spec above his right arm looks like a piece of lint caught between the card and the slab? It's hard to tell for sure, but that's what it looks like to me without using a loupe or a magnifier. It bothers me a bit, but I also don't feel like cracking the slab.

Guess it's time to invest in a loupe, if that would help, which I assume it would?

Thoughts?

my first thought was that it was a piece of dust/lint ON the slab .... which really show up on SGC holders. If it is inside the slab, I am sure that SGC would reholder it no charge

I was wondering that, so that is good to know. :)

Guess I should still invest in a loupe first just in case it isn't.

Thanks.

I appreciate the info!

Picked up a group of 57 autographed baseball and football cards, which included this:

inscription reads "The Mad Hungarian"

I got him through the mail a few years ago. He signed my card and answered some questions I wrote. His inscription on the question sheet was "To Drew. stay Psyched! Al Hrabosky". One of my favorite responses.

I've been after a Musial Rookie for a while now. Finally pulled the trigger! The Mk is for a back stamp and I actually don't mind those on the older cards.

So why did you buy his second year card instead of his Bowman rookie?

A grail of sorts for me, the vast majority of these, when you do find them, are authentic only and usually pretty beat up.

Thanks Robert and Ray. Peter, that's the nicest I've seen! Great pickup!

That's fine, but you do understand that it isn't his rookie card. My personal preference is for the 1948 Bowman RC over the 1949 Leaf. I think that 1949 Leaf is the ugliest post war set.

DBesse27 02-16-2017 09:32 AM

That Rawlings Musial is off the charts!

Peter, a more aestheticly pleasing Stan the Man card was rarely produced, compared to your Rawlings. That card is such a stunner. Congratulations. --Brian Powell

Yes I do understand it. I've read that some people feel the 49 Leaf is the ugliest postwar set but I think a lot of it has to do with horrible miscuts and registry errors neither of which this example has.

Nice pick up on that Red Barn.

Just won these 2 cards minutes ago.

My second Spahn and my first Snider and Hodges card. Just wish I could say I had both the Snider and Hodges cards in my 52 Topps set.

Some day! :)

Thanks guys!

I noticed it last night from a guy I purchase from quite often and I just had to have it.
Although I don't use a sniping service, judging by the amount of last second bids, I may have just beat one out? I actually didn't think I won it as the post went all funny/blurry/notchy as I put my max bid in in the dieing seconds.

When things settled/cleared up, I was really glad to see I actually won it! :)

As a kid I loved the Kellogg's 3D baseball cards. I hate to think how many boxes of cereal I consumed building those sets. I recently came across this item on eBay listed as "Rare Willie Mays 1960's Figure Cut Out Magnet Back". Fortunately I have three other examples of Kellogg's production art. Due to this I was able to recognize this as the original artwork used to create the 1970 Kellogg's Willie Mays card. I made an offer and it was accepted. I am very pleased to add this unique piece to my collection.

Slowly but surely picking away at my lower number set.

Been busy lately, with a mix of long-term wants and impulse pickups. Thanks to several board members for many of these additions.
The '60 Tommy Davis may seem a funny one, but an utterly impossible card to find perfectly centered made that one sweet nonetheless...

Also, Mike: GREAT Mantle pickups as always. Your Mantle run just keeps getting better!

DBesse27 02-24-2017 09:54 PM

I love oddballs and the Hires and Dan Dee are off the charts!

mickey7mantle7 02-25-2017 04:00 PM

That Hank Aaron Root Beer card is a really nice treat to look at!

mickey7mantle7 02-25-2017 04:13 PM

Been a LONG TIME since I've acquired anything...will lost this in the Mantle Thread as well.

Figured it would have graded higher, but the lower left corner killed it. The centering is an 8.5-9.0 imo. Other than that, thanks for the look gentlemen.
