The next card I most want is a D350-2 Standard Biscuit of Sam Rice. Why this card, you ask? Because I'm working on a master set of Sam Rice cards. The D350-2 is one of Rice's RCs, and there is only one listed in the combined pop reports.

Very Cobb heavy so far, but one of the more popular ones should be added IMO:

T205 Ty Cobb

Yoda 10-09-2018 03:13 AM

Boston Garter Joe Jackson.

Well, that didn't take long.

Cards were taken in order without judgement or old judgement in my case.

The thread may continue, but every card going forward qualifies only as Honorable Mention.

The Honorable mention list will not be maintained or expanded.

I appreciate adherence to the rules allowing participation from multiple members.

Peter_Spaeth 10-09-2018 07:50 AM

Why are you using the British spelling of "judgement"?

RedsFan1941 10-09-2018 08:11 AM

why are you using any spelling of M116 smoky joe wood?

because judgement is a play on "Old Judge" if you read the whole sentence or was is too long for you.

because I used copy and paste to create the list. You can thank clydepepper for Smoky Joe

My popularity with the undocumented "grammar and spelling" critics on the board is the sincerest form of flattery and I thank you both, but I claim no foul on this one.:D:D:cool:

How did the t207 Lewis and Lowdermilk cards not get mentioned? Are t207s not collected anymore?

Lowdermilk is overrated, no?

oldjudge 10-09-2018 06:23 PM

Collectors have soured on Lowdermilk

They are hanging onto their sour dough.

Others may classify themselves as Lack Dough Intolerant

This has to be top 50, as it’s the backbone of one of the most famous and earliest sets. I’d also add the yellow 33 goudey Ruth and the T204 Ramly Wajo

Smokey Howard

Somewhere in the Gerald Wood bio of Joe Wood, can't remember the page, I read that neither Joe Sr. nor his family members ever employed the spelling "Smokey" but rather always used "Smoky". The former then is an affectation even though it has a certain coolness. The geniuses at SGC thought so anyway.

The education that Net54 provides never ceases to amaze.

Who knew that “Smokey The Bear” was an affectation?

Strictly speaking it's Smokey Bear. I know this because I have access to Google. The "the" got added in a song about him in 1952 and people picked it up. Some say the is his middle name. Smoky Howard Wood's middle name was Ellsworth.

Don't feel too bad, David. I only own four and, to be honest, I'm not interested in most of them. However, I would really like to have that Smoky Joe.

Wajo T206 portrait is always a crown fave. Here is a portrait with a m116 design...(not in the top 50 :))

Contrast and compare...I prefer the M116.

But Ryan, this Top 50 card of WaJo does come with 2 different backs! :)
