Thanks Joe! Nicest “2” I’ve ever seen and much nicer than most “3’s & 4’s” I own. Thank you PSA for making this possible on my budget!!

Ok, I'll follow the CJ Cobb with this grouping of awesome E90-1s. What do you think of that guys?! Now everyone can start posting pick ups again. Seriously though, sweet 14 Cobb!!

Dan, I know how long you have wanted a CJ Cobb, but you were patient and waited for the perfect one for you. It is a beauty. Congrats!

Dan, wonderful pick up. Congrats. But why did PSA only give it a 1? Outside of the obvious caramel staining, I cant spot any creases, wrinkling or paper loss. The color, registration, centering are all great. Looks like a strong vg to me. Anyhow, regardless, it is a stupendous card. Still chasing mine

Rhotchkiss 11-15-2018 10:58 AM

Dan congrats. Special card. I agree though, what makes it a 1? At least pwcc recognizes it was certified special!!

Zan 11-15-2018 11:04 AM

Thanks John! I don't understand the grade either. There is a light wrinkle on the reverse in the center (maybe a 1/4 inch?) that does not go through to the front (although it can be seen on the front jersey in certain light, including the pic I shared, due to the staining and the thinness of the card). Other than that its sharp all around sans the staining. At the end of the day it presents VG/EX, and I couldn't have afforded it even if it only graded PSA 2, so I guess I owe PSA a big fat thank you for the conservative technical grade.

WOW! It seems November was a great month and it still isnt over! This was my latest pick-up and by far my highest graded CJ of my collection. I was determined to complete a low grade set and on this night I had a few to many adult beverages at the point the auction was ending - just glad someone didn't have a higher bid as I was determined to get it in my inebriated state. $1,200 isnt to bad is it... lol

Bicem 11-15-2018 03:23 PM

I got my first and only Novelty Cutlery PC today. The card is dated to 1907 for some reason even though this specific shot is believed to happen in fall of 1909 and pretty widely accepted as fact so I cant imagine these were produced in 1907. Also a couple more p/us from the fall I don't think I ever posted.

Rhotchkiss 11-15-2018 06:16 PM

Thanks everyone, have all of the cards out tonight.

Hank - Great book, just about finished with it an have thoroughly enjoying reading about your grandfather. The card is not new to the hobby, it use to be Leons I believe. I believe there are four from this production know, with the blue tint, and then the single 1907 PC.

CobbSpikedMe 11-15-2018 07:17 PM

Nice Steven. I tried to bring it down a little so others could post without shame after I showed off my beaters and you go blow it up again. :D Micah, you too with your Smoky Joe CJ! :D

Very nice acquisitions.

yanksfan09 11-15-2018 07:18 PM

Jaw dropping pick ups Steve!

Wow! This has been an insane month of pickups on the board overall! (not even a ton of posts, but serious quality tough cards in the thread!)

Agree with Gary, great card, Leon. I should sell my collection and start over.

haha, agreed on the pose! Trying to decide how deep I want to get into 1914. literally started just 2 weeks ago, have a Matty on its way in a 9 as well to match the Baker and Honus. Need to decide if I'm building the set, or just going for Key guys, or if I'm just done after dipping my toes in.

I found that the Game Sets are a relatively inexpensive way to get the bigger stars...the 1913 National Game Grover Alexander, for example, is listed as his RC.

Michael, Jay, hats off - great pickups. I was an underbidder (at least I had placed a bid) on all three of those cards- because they are each awesome! Michael, that Tinker is tough. And Jay, you are amassing one heck of a rare back Cobb collection- perhaps post what you got?

This arrived today, my first win from an auction house. I'm tickled with it, as I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get one in my budget, especially presenting as nicely as it does. But it really is one of the grails for me, and I made sure to have my two young sons open the box with me. Moment to remember!

TUM301 11-20-2018 02:57 AM

Right you are Garth, that bad boy does present very well. Great addition sir, hope you and your boys enjoy that Ted, and the opening, for years to come !

None that I know of...thankfully! Only red backed HOFers I can confirm are Crawford (2 copies) and Evers (1 copy).
