Do raw 59's get love?

Here are some (most) of the '59's I have, plus the Clemente PSA 6 I picked up last night in the Sterling Sports Auction. These raw ones aren't as nice as those high PSA's, but I think they deserve a little love too.

'59 Topps Brooks

Q: for you '59 experts. While I have a lower grade Brooks Robinson '59 Topps card I would one day like to acquire a high grade example. As far as cards, I pretty much narrow my focus to Brooksie cards so I'd like to ultimately upgrade. So, are there any particular issues with this card, like focus/registration, issues w/the yellow circle or color in general, surface problems, etc. with this card? Also, any type of variations? This is one of my favorite cards of Brooks so I'd like to get a nice one.

Thanks in advance!

Nice 1959's all....and, yes, the raw cards should get some love....they are beauties.

Mark, the '59 Brooks Robinson is an easy card to find in high grade, not terribly expensive and it is a card without any special challenges.

Don,

Appreciate the insight on the '59 Topps Brooks Robinson. While I collect all types of Brooks items I'm sure not an expert on certain aspect of particular cards. When I first started collecting cards I wasn't really that concerned with the shape, picked up probably Ex/Exmt range, so now I'm a little more concerned with condition so I'd like to upgrade when I have an opportunity.

You are welcome, Mark. Good luck in your quest to find a really nice BRobby.

A recent LCS pickup. I paid a 6 range price, but wonder if it might be a candidate for a 7. Corners by Gillette...

6's - increasingly like other PSA grades - can be all over the place in my experience, and that includes both in old and new slabs. I have several straight 6's that have very sharp corners, maybe a tad O/C but within the range...and no noticeable surface wear. I scratch my head as to why they weren't at least 7's if not higher. Then I have a few other 6.5's with the same centering and noticeable corner wear. I know there is no computer for accuracy or consistency in grading, but line up a couple of these cards next to each other and it doesn't make sense. Oh well, not to get on another PSA rant...we all know at the end of the day it's simply an "opinion."
