Suggestion for our Moderator: Board Members' Ebay ID's

Posted By: Paul
I have a suggestion that I hope the rest of the Board members and our moderator will agree with. I think it would be very helpful to post a list of Members' ebay ID's. Many of us are much more comfortable bidding on the auction of a member we have dealt with than bidding on the auction of a stranger. Yet, we don't know everyone's ebay ID. For example, I just learned in another thread that Harry Wright is Barry Sloate. I will now look at Harry Wright's auctions with greater interest.

Participation in this list, of course, would be entirely voluntary. But I think it would be a great service to have a list correllating ebay IDs with Net54 IDs. Members also could voluntarily include their real names if they so choose.

Just a thought.

However, I had been using "Lovegun77" (my friend's) to purchase things and not have my wife kick me out on the front lawn.

I have now created a new buyer name "mr.E101" to complete my set. It has no feedback currently so please don't be scared off!

Posted By: Brian McQueen

I do feel there are benefits to having everyone's full name and Ebay ID available. Perhaps re-structuring the "Collector's Websites" section under the Vintage Links page into more of a "Forum Contributor's" section listing Ebay ID, fullname, Website address etc...could be of use?

A second option could be to create a seperate section for "Ebay ID's" under the Forum FAQ's page. It would be pretty easy to list everyone's Ebay ID in a small table.

Any thoughts?

Should have it up tonight or tomorrow.

I'll include eBay ID and a direct link to that seller's items. Should I include name, e-mail... anything else? Or is that information too personal?

Any other suggestions?

Chris

Suggestion for our Moderator: Board Members' Ebay ID's

Posted By: Anonymous
Leon and I had a chance to discuss this a bit earlier. I think what I'll end up doing is taking the current "Collector's sites" portion of our Vintage Links page, moving it to the top of the page, renaming it "Net 54 Vintage Collectors" (or something to that effect) and revamping it to include some more relevant information.

I was planning on creating a four-column table to hold Fullname/Board Alias, Ebay ID, Website address and then a fourth for Email address. This way, we use the space for useful information instead of goofy site titles such as "Bob's Vintage cards" and vague descriptions of that person's site

These will all be optional and I'm not going to fill out info for people unless you let me know that you want your info (fullname and Email address) added. I realize some of you may not want that information made public. However, I figured adding the Email column would be useful too because I can't tell you how many times I've had to trek through the forum trying to find someone's email address.

Hopefully these changes will facilitate networking and communication within our community. So unless there are any objections I will get started and hopefully have something completed for us by this weekend.

-Brian

Posted By: Brian McQueen

Rob,

I think I see what you are saying. The answer is "yes". If you take a look at the page for "Vintage Links" you'll see that I've already built a table for how this is going to look. (please keep in mind it's still "under construction" and needs to have info added and tidied up in general. We'll have seperate columns for all of these things so if you have an Email address you'd like to be public, respond here and I'll eventually get to it. Not a problem if you don't have a site, I'll just leave that field blank. Hope this clears it up.

-Brian
