To me the E90-1 Speaker is the toughest of the big name Hall of Famer E90-1 cards, so indeed a great snag, and nice looking to boot!

Leon, the t205 set is definitely at the top of my prewar enjoyment. It goes well with my photos as well. Thank you!

Is it normal now for SGC to not include the player's name on the flip anymore?

Nice pick up nonetheless.

BLongley 02-06-2019 06:40 PM

Yeah, that’s weird right? Just “throwing”... has to be a mistake they didn’t put it.

Was finally able to replace the SGC 40 that I always regretted selling, and its subsequent placeholder, with a nicely centered copy. Probably going to be sending this one in for review since SGC wasn't doing half grades back when this one was slabbed.

Beauty Dan, congrats! I got my green Cobb about 9 years ago, a centered PSA2, but with some stained borders. Now that prices are where they are, I really wish I’d ponied up the couple hundred extra it would’ve taken back then to a cleaner 2 or a 3.

Not sure how it got that plastic casing around it, unless PSA sent a team to do on-site grading in Louisiana...cool find, nonetheless!

Got a fun little pickup for my "Providence" collection. I've seen many auction listings that mislabel the T206 Hof(f)mans, Morans, and Shaws, but this is the first I've gotten with the wrong name on the flip.

I picked up all three of these cards at the post office this morning from recent eBay purchases.

Picked up a sharp Jimmy Archer M116 Sporting Life with a 300 subjects back.

Also picked a cool 1915 Ivy Wingo Cracker Jack.

Lastly, I grabbed a Lou Ritter T206 because it has contrast in the pink background whereas my current example has no contrast just a flat pink background on the top half of the card.

Great pick ups so far- too many to mention, but especially the t206s and the Gandil Green-Joyce

These are paid for/checks in the mail, but none are in hand yet... (I can’t get the Crofts Cocoa backpic to post, but it has a clean back)

Well, this appears to be all pre-war cards but I'm going to post my weekend pickup anyhow.
Was actually picking up some junk wax when I asked if there were any other packs at a LCS. Pulled out a few including this one. Wasn't looking for vintage packs but can't pass them up when they are a good deal!! The front of the case needs a good wipe down but otherwise I'm pretty pumped!

Jobu 02-11-2019 08:54 PM

Wow --- nice!!!!!

It appears to be all prewar because it is the prewar section. No offense meant, but there is another section all about post war cards.

I'm relatively new to the board, and only recently back in the hobby for the last year. My goal for 2019 has been to go full-bore on my very small but growing Chicago Cubs HOF collection. For all pre-WWII Cubs HOF'ers, my goal is to have at least one original card of each player in a Chicago uniform. I figured Cap Anson to be one of the more expensive acquisitions, and frankly have never spent this much on a single card! The rest of the collection will seem much easier to acquire after this one (with the exception of King Kelly's Chicago N172 Old Judge - that one is hard to locate).

It's been a busy few days on eBay.

Cap Anson - 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter
Jim "Hippo" Vaughn - 1916 M101-5 Sporting News
Hack Wilson - 1931 W517
Rogers Hornsby - 1931 W517

Todd, that Green-Joyce Gandil is my kinda card - a truly-rare, real-photo card. Congrats!

Ryan, every time I see your pickups, I think there is now way that your encores will surpass them - then, your encores usually do! Congrats! I am more and more looking forward to your second "DC area Net54 Show & Tell" that I hope and believe you are planning to organize in the not-too-distant future, because I can't wait to see your new gems up close and personal.

Rhotchkiss 02-12-2019 12:20 PM

Thanks all for the kind words- I am total cardboard junky.

Dean, great looking HOF example (as always); Brian, awesome month so far; Brandon, looking forward to seeing more posts - Go Badgers!!

Lorewalker 02-12-2019 12:34 PM

These monthly pick up threads are my favorites on the board. Great stuff fellas.

Outside of Ruth and Gehrig, Exhibits still seem fairly inexpensive given the supply. On a whim bought this one.

Ricky 02-12-2019 05:39 PM

Nice Collins, Peter. Exhibits and W517s are a very reasonable avenue for HOFers.

Throttlesteer 02-12-2019 05:57 PM

Agree, sweet Collins. Hes not known for a lot of attractive cards. This is one of my favorites.
