They didn't need to curse to be funny. Back then you could still make a joke about someone and they wouldn't be up in arms.

Rickles always hilarious. The king on the Dean Martin Roast specials ( yes...I'm old)

Rickles and Bob Newhart are best friends. They go on vacation with their wives and Newhart was involved with introducting Rickles to Rickles' future wife.

I recorded the audio of a bunch of those from the TV onto some long-gone reel-to-reel tapes, so you're not THAT old. ;)

I doubt he'd get away with the racial jokes nowadays. I doubt many young people would even understand the train porter joke though.

I doubt many young people even know who Don Rickles is.
