I see you’re using a different grading service. Do you think they’ll break the monopoly? They seem to be doing a good job.

I hope so. The way I figure it is that the parent company is the main rival to CU so odds are they are here to stay. The product itself is very well done and the service was as promised. Whether they will sell for similar prices is the question.

ETA: FWIW I sold a boxing card for a comparable price to PSA and Beckett so that's good.

PSA delivers (finally)!
 

8-month PSA wait came to an end today, with a group heavy on vintage Basketball. Only 10 more submissions pending, haha.
Probably still have 9-10x more vintage basketball outstanding, but was great to get some cards in hand!

Pretty pleased with the grades, which were right at predicted in most cases.

I'm mostly a baseball guy, but as someone who grew up in Chicagoland in the 80s-90s this has always been high on my want list. Saw this posted in the BST and jumped! Thanks PiecesOfTheGame for the easy deal on a big-time (at least for me) card.

Great Jordan! Here's a couple more I picked up, a 'Zo RC and the cheapest '73 Jabar I could find LOL!

That Western Semis card has Jabbar, Barry, Thurmond and Dandridge. Basically 4/5 of an all star team w/3 HOFers.

Nice card Adam! Yeah, that '73 Semis card has great star power for a fraction of the cost for those players individually in PSA 8. Paid $40 for that one!

That Jerry Lucas is a cool card. And I always get a good laugh at Sikma's haircut!

At least Sikma's RC card hair is cut better than this!

Damn, I love those 1975s. I was ten, and totally into NY sports teams (Yankees, Knicks, Nets, Rangers), Star Trek and cards and not much else, and the Topps basketball set that year and Dr. J were obsessions. Ripped a lot of packs from the corner candy store. Simpler times.

Yeah, like the infamous Wilkes card. Even the backs are OC. I had a perfect Marvin Barnes that was a 9 OC because of the back. Not that it matters to me. I collect 'em like I found 'em from the packs. Clean and crisp but OC is just fine with me.

Been submitting some great vintage cards for a local Dealer friend who hung it up about 20 years ago, and has just been sitting on his stock.
He's been good enough to allow me to buy from him as things have come back.

Very pleased to add these sharp Celtics rookies from his latest batch today.

Those are superb.

As are the 1972s. I just love that set: so bright, so vibrant looking.

From a 2012 UK issue. I had one that I sold before the run-up and was able to find one at a reasonable price to replace it.

Once some '88 Fleer basketball stuff gets here tomorrow, my set run of the '80s hoops issues will be complete ('80-'81 and '81-82 T, '86-'89 Fleer. No Star.) Except for a few '89 Fleer commons and stickers.

Great stuff guys! I just got these today from a local estate sale. Picked up 51 of the 66 card set.

I haven't picked up a basketball card in over 30 years...this may be the start of the rabbit hole. Chet "the jet" Walker in a PSA 5 (displays really really well).

Thanks Adam. There was one other guy bidding on them, so I didn't "score", but I feel I got them for a pretty good price. Of course grades make the difference when it comes time to sell. A few more pics.

With PSA off the scene, I'm debating on which TPG to send them to.

That's a beautiful run of cards regardless of what a TPG says.

Thanks guys! These were destined for PSA but hard to resist the $30 per card grading fee and 2-week turnaround! It might be years before PSA ever has a submission price under $150 per card.

A couple of Dr. J's just landed. The Star is cheapo, but I love the image of his finger roll over Kareem.

Getting hooked on basketball, all over again.

I ordered some old Cricket tobacco cards from Thailand, and they came Monday. I ordered them all the way back in May, but I'm glad they came eventually.

I bought two complete sets, 1928 Wills and 1938 John Player and Sons. They're both 50 card sets, and they were each around $20 including shipping. My dad also bought a 1937 Will's Authors set, because it includes cards of two of his favorite writers, Hilaire Belloc and G.K Chesterton.

They're just absolutely beautiful cards.

Thanks. Had a chance three years to buy one for $600 that ended up grading a 6. One of my most egregious cheap skate moments. Needless to say I paid a multiple of that for this. Can't look back in anger, but can look back with regret. lol

Same here. Got Sam Jones about five years ago to get me to just Wilt. It had been those two for about ten years.

Some happy hunting at the National for Basketball. The '71 Wilt was the highlight of the entire convention for me!
The Garnett was a really pleasing find for my '95-'98 Garnett run as well.

I've had a couple of nice returns from PSA lately (timely grading and accurate grades, if you can believe that), with this being one of my favorites.
