Landed a white whale on the BST!
A few days ago, my phone started buzzing. I checked it and saw I had two new PMs from Net54. I thought it was odd since I wasn't bidding on or selling anything. I logged on to the site and saw that both messages had the word Coakley in the title. My heart skipped a beat.
Andy Coakley was a pitcher winding up his career with the Cubs and was a member of the 1908 World Series winners. He was the only player on the roster who had a card issued that I didn't have a copy of. The only thing that I could find for him that wasn't a postcard was from the T204 set. Not exactly a plentiful issue. Each day I searched for a Coakley, never making a connection. I opened the messages to see that two board members had seen the card on the BST and remembered from my signature that I was looking for a copy. They graciously alerted me to its presence within a half hour of the posting and within hours a bargain was struck. It arrived today, and it's my new favorite card! Behold the glory that is Andy Coakley! Long live this community! http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...130_170903.jpg |

Congrats! It's the best feeling getting that one card to complete your set. Way to go and now it's on to the next white whale. :-)

Congratulations on an outstanding pick up. It's great how so many of the board members here look out for one another!

Awesome sauce.

That's awesome, and what this site should be all about. With all the negativity in our hobby with these Mastro revelations it's nice to see something positive.
|
This is what makes this community so amazing.

Congrats and enjoy your treasure. Thanks for sharing

What it's all about-- way to go to the guys who helped out.

When I saw the card was on the BST but sold already I hoped you had been the one to pick it up. Congrats on the search coming to a end!
