1946 New York Giants Autographed Baseball

4 Attachment(s)
Hey all, first post here!

I have a ball autographed by the 1946 New York Giants (as far as I can tell).

Seems to be in pretty good shape and includes Hall of Famers Mel Ott, Johnny Mize and Ernie Lombardi. Photos included.

It's the only item of its type that I have and I have no idea how to go about finding out how much it's worth, where I can sell it, if I need to get it authenticated, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is an Autograph Sub-Forum that is slightly underneath this one on the main page.

The arguably best player on the ball (Mel Ott) doesn't look good to me.

I know nothing about the subject, but I would have thought that Ott--the manager and all time greatest hitter on the Giants-- would have signed on the sweet spot.

I was going to say the same thing, but didn't want to rain on the parade. Other signatures look off to me as well and it's not on an official ball from what I see. There are other with more team ball experience than me.

I've never liked that style of "Mel Ott" either. It appears on Giants' Balls a lot, but cannot recall ever seeing it on a flat surface.

FWIW, many of the auction houses have sold Giants Signed Balls with this same exact "Ott" style, and most have had accompanying Letters from JSA, PSA, etc.

The "M' looks especially bad to me, and I've always suspected these are secretarial. Perhaps the authenticators know something we don't?

The M is what stands out to me too. Problem I had is that many other have little idiosyncrasies that stick out as well. I just don't collect or really buy or sell team balls so I will defer.
