Anyone have experience with SGC grading modern cards?

Does anyone have any experience with SGC on modern cards and does their "PRISTINE" grade carry a premium in value like BGS? Recently I sent an order to SGC of T206 cards & Exhibit cards and tossed in a couple modern cards with the shipment that belong to my son.

Got notice yesterday my order was shipped, so I checked the grades out on the order.

2015 Topps Heritage 725 Kris Bryant - SP (Action Variation) 98 GEM10
2015 Topps Heritage 725 Kris Bryant - SP 100 PRISTINE

Had I sent these to PSA, based on past experience I would have hoped/expected them to both have been GEM 10's, they were both really nice cards, so I'm not questioning their grading (pretty fine line between a 98 & 100). Just really wondering if their 100 grade is really better than a 98 and thus carry's a value premium.

Thanks,
Steve

I've only done a few, and not that modern.

I didn't do that well, and one card in particular did very poorly. Nicest 81 Donruss I've seen and it only got an 8.

SGC doesn't have much following for modern stuff, so I can't imagine there being much of a premium for the top grades. That's mostly driven by the registry, and for modern stuff there's not much action there.

For example, most of the ones I sent in were 81 Topps, and at the time it was impossible to complete that set SGC graded unless you sent them in yourself. Which really isn't practical since even at the $5 special level it would be just over 3600 in fees. Someone has done that though, since now at least one of each card has been graded with SGC.
Contrast that with PSA where there's only about 12 cards that aren't available as a 10.

Probably have a benefit to both 98 and 100 grades over raw cards, but to get money out of them, you'll probably want to cross to BGS 9.5 or BGS 10, or PSA 10. A 9.5 usually has what, a 50% increase in price from raw? So a $20 card that's Gem BGS would be $30ish with maybe $75-100 for Pristine?
