Do Big Borders Factor into T206 Pricing or Value?

2 Attachment(s)
Do T206 collectors factor big borders into value? We all know the players, backs and front/back combos make up the value for the most part, but what about cards with big borders? Some might pay more for a big bordered card for a variety of reasons? But if I (you) were doing the Monster, as a set, would I (you) care or pay more for them? We can also leave centering out of the equation as long it's not too far off centered.

IMO, yes....Especially if they are well centered like this Joss....

To pay more for the big bordered card it would also have to be crease free and the corners couldn't be rounded too bad.

I couldn't imagine paying any premium for a big bordered card with any problems at all.

Nice Joss Leon. I think most of the larger border t206's do sell for a slight premium
and certain people will pay a bigger premium but on average I would say in the 10%-20%
range.

I most definitely pay up for ones I like which are unique and have large borders.

In my opinion, Large borders are appealing and they factor into the overall look/how desirable the card is. I will pay up for cards I find more desirable/good looking, so indirectly, yes, it affects value for me; but directly, I will not specifically pay more for large borders or less for skinny borders and it does not have nearly the impact as centering, corners, creasing, etc.

BTW- Tony, great looking Wajo and Evers!

I certainly look for full borders when considering T206 purchases. Cards with thin/narrow borders are suspect to trimming. Obviously there’s an acceptable range of dimensions, but if you can get a full bordered example, always best.

Re: paying a premium, I’d say slight, not a ton.

Sign me up! I love big fat bordered T206's. Like others, I too will pay more for them, but not overboard.

To the contrary I think the small bordered ones sell higher, as that seems to describe so many of the high grade ones.

I'm not a big t206 collector, but I've owned a few. I would pay a premium for a card with bigger borders. Especially on a higher grade big name HOFer.

I would Pay More for a Bigger Border because:

- They Look Nicer in My Opinion.
- It gives me Confidence that they are Less Likely to be Trimmed.
