Fake.

That's not Cobb's handwriting.

Didn't he just authenticate a bunch of Hitler art? Or is that someone else?

Having something authenticated by Frank Garo. Is like going to a card show and buying from Tony Podsada.

WOWIE!!! That is not Cobbs handwriting for sure!!!

That's horrible - Cobb couldn't write anywhere near that neatly.

But you have to hand it to someone who would try to forge an entire letter, even if they weren't good at it.

This also illustrates how easy it is to forge a Ty Cobb signature, and why handwritten letters ARE a nice, safe way to collect autographs, as long as you educate yourself.

Also, just how easy it is (without conscience) for these so-called Forensic Document Examiners and phony Forensic Authenticators (Stephen Rocchi comes immediately to mind), to "authenticate" this crap.

When was that guy doing stuff?

I saw a Cobb letter in the mid 80's that I really wanted, but have come to see as a big bullet dodged. At the time it was about as much as I'd paid for my car, (Not crazy money, but a load of cash to me. )
Same green ink, first page typical "thanks for writing" type stuff, second was the nasty Cobb we've come to know wasn't real. I later figured it was faked by Stump.

It's easy to fake a letter if you don't even try to imitate Cobb's handwriting. Someone just wrote some boilerplate pleasantries in their own cursive handwriting with some green ink and called it a day.
