I am going to go with a no. I just looked up his signature on Hunts past auctions. I saw 38 and forty signatures. Nothing like that or close to it.

I was more worried about the Gordon, seems to be squeezed together a bit more than usual. Joe had a weird “J” like that for awhile and I was thinking this was probably just a rush job for the rest. Still curious though...any other thoughts?

and Shells, did Dimaggio ever sign like that? Ifsofatso, I don't like it...:D

There is the funny "J" that he used sometimes around that period. I like the Gordon autograph on the baseball you pictured. My concern was that this was potentially clubhouse, although the autograph album was less of game/ballpark based and more "event based" with items clearly signed at dinners, charity events, etc.

The unusual Dimaggio coupled with the "scrunched" Gordon kind of had me a bit unsure. I like the Hadley and am leaning good with the others, just looking for something to push me further in the "yay" or deeper in the "nay".

I would say yay...Dimaggio had that J for the 1940-42 period and the Gordon looks good to me as well. Less versed on Hadley, but nothing that would lead me to believe clubhouse

I believe all three are good.

This is a 1940 ball. It looks nothing like that signature,

While this page isn’t dated, some in the book are and they range from 1938-1940, with nothing later. So, while it could be before/after those dates, this is reasonably a good period in which we can assume this page was signed.

Dimaggio did use that weird “J” for a while, so it didn’t concern me as it is near this period. The “rushed” looking last part of the signature, coupled with the Gordon being a bit more “scrunched” had me wanting to rule out clubhouse.

So far, I think we have a split opinion here...

Ironically, I would have been a person voting “good” without much thought if it weren’t my item. I was about to sell it - scanned it, looked at it again...and posted it here for reassurance.

Th variant in the original post is one that i have seen several times on items that were dated on or around 1942.

Not my album page, but i’d stand behind it as authentic if it were

boy i miss Jim Stinson!

Below are two contracts signed by Dimaggio dating to the 1940 and 1942 seasons which show his style J during that period.

No one has mentioned the g's in the autograph. I just don't like it. If you want to spend money on a really ugly autograph that is questionable go for it.

The g's do look terrible, but there are indications (to me) that he was writing on a page that didn't have good support, so maybe he just couldn't get the loops in. I bet it's authentic, but good point on ugly autographs.
