When was blue sharpie invented?

I am sure this has been discussed before, but when was blue sharpie invented and when did it start to become the 'standard' in the autograph collecting world? I have run across a few items signed in blue sharpie, and I am wondering if the signer could have even been alive to sign in blue.....

Thanks for the help.

Was blue also introduced in 1964? I saw a photo autographed by Casey Stengel in blue marker, so it made me wonder if it even could be real. I usually see his stuff signed in black marker.

If it's real, it could be a flair pen. Those have been around since at least the 50s.

I think Picasso invented it during his Blue Period.

He might have.:D A weird fact is most people don't realize he didn't die until 1973. Most people think he lived a few 100 years ago. Been to the Picasso Museum many times and he did paint some strange stuff.

Sorry no help at all to the original question.:)
