Cloth Sticker/Mantle? ID Help

I have had this cloth sticker-thing lying around for a while and never really knew what it was and it has been sort of bugging me lately.

Any idea what this is? It looks like it may be trimmed (I guess it could have been issued that way). It doesn't have any team insignia's but IMO the player looks like Mantle (sort of distorted so it could be anyone I suppose). No idea as to its age but based on the patent date on back I think the earliest it could be is late 1960's (1967 or so) but it could be much later than that I guess. Roughly the size of a standard sized Topps card. Looks like maybe Nicholas Volpe artwork? Anyways, just wondering if anybody knows what this thing is...

Really cool piece. Not sure what it is though.

According to Worthpoint someone sold an "Oddball cloth sticker strip" on eBay back in 2007. The item description was "feels similar to the touch to the 1977 Topps cloth stickers.....back of the panel has advertising for "Fasson Crack & Peel"......strip of four players which measures about 10 x 3 1/4 inches.....no names given, but looking at the pictures I believe the four players features are Mickey Mantle (sure of this one), Willie Mays Aikens, Steve Carlton, and George Brett."

The inclusion of Willie Mays Aikens would date it to at least the late 1970s or more likely the early 1980s.

Like the other item described by Karl, it feels and looks very similar to 1977 Topps Cloth Stickers. I have had it for quite some time, I picked it up as part of a collection of 1960-70's oddball items I purchased a while back. Never really figured it out, put it aside, and re-came across it and it has been bugging me. Patent dates on back are hard to read in the scan but they are 3,006,793 and 3,035,957.

Willie Mays Aikens seems like a strange addition, maybe the seller meant the real Willie Mays? A picture would be nice. I doubt the item is anything special but the "cataloger" in me hates having things undescribed. :)

I collect Brett and can confirm there is a sticker on that paper. Very rare and hard to come by. I've only seen one ever and don't have a pic of it. While I don't know the year, I think early 80s is most likely from the image of Brett I saw.

I don't know how long they used it, but that's the same backing Fasson was using when I worked for the print shop -1979-81.

Both patents are for the brittle stripes on the backing paper.
