"For sell"...

WHY?

Discuss.

TUM301 10-06-2018 05:00 AM

"For Monies" !

ALR-bishop 10-06-2018 07:40 AM

For not ?

vintagetoppsguy 10-06-2018 08:33 AM

Not sure what you're asking.

Are you asking why people say "For Sell" rather than "For Sale"?

You can blame that on our wonderful education system in this country.

Same reason you look closely at cards through a "loop."

That's what you write when your item "needs sold"

I've heard the mixing tenses thing is an Ohio/western PA thing, but I've seen it from people in lots of places.

RichardSimon 10-07-2018 08:28 AM

I run a lot of classified advertising and my website gets a lot of hits every day.
Some of the responses I get are appallingly written.
Not typos.
The poor use of the English language and the spelling are sad comments on the educational system.

Snapolit1 10-07-2018 10:03 AM

One that gets me all the time is "loosing" for "losing."

I am "loosing" money on the deal.

JollyElm 10-07-2018 02:53 PM

One that constantly appears around these parts...
"I seen"

vintagetoppsguy 10-07-2018 06:05 PM

All of this really peaks my interest :D

SAllen2556 10-07-2018 06:46 PM

I'd rather discuss NFL tie's.

Jim65 10-08-2018 03:49 AM

The one that bothers me is would of, its would've or would have.

barrysloate 10-08-2018 04:45 AM

The most common error I see is the misuse of "its" and "it's". Nearly everyone gets it wrong.

I've even seen its' used on occasion, which isn't even in the English language. Not sure why this causes so many problems.

for all intensive purposes

Butch7999 10-11-2018 11:19 PM

Doesn't matter, as long as the actual meaning is left in tack.

timzcardz 10-12-2018 04:51 AM

My brother's name is Sell.

So when I have a card For Sell, I only have it for a sort time, until I see my brother.

CobbSpikedMe 10-12-2018 06:17 PM

I always cringe when people say excetera or write ect.

Laxcat 10-12-2018 06:38 PM

That's one of the big ones for me as well, because it is so blatantly wrong for me.

Had a coworker that used the word "bases" instead of "basis" when I worked in the office. That really used to get under my skin. So glad I work from home!

gopherfan 11-01-2018 08:27 PM

Can I axe you a question? Drives me nuts.

RichardSimon 11-07-2018 04:34 PM

Just got this offer:

70 autographed pictures of shenya Twain with authantisity

RichardSimon 11-08-2018 12:10 PM

And he wrote to me again to prove that the first email did not contain typos.

"Shenya Twain sighned pictures with authantisity around 100 of them"
