Hi Brian

What issue is that Wally from? My dad collects his stuff and I have never seen that one before.

Happy 98th Wally! Oldest living player right?

Chris,

The picture is from a 4x5 set the Pirates issued in 1948 and 1949. Mike Wheat and I got together around Thanksgiving last year and between our collections determined there were 52 different poses in the set.

As for oldest living ballplayer, Westlake comes in fifth, but is the oldest living National Leaguer and former All Star. Here is a list from Wikipedia:

..for some reason he appears in quite a few off-the-beaten-path stuff.....

..these are a 1952 Berk Ross ( AKA "Hit Parade Of Champions" ) and a 1946-49 Sports Exchange "Miniature" and he is also a damned difficult scarce rare tough hard-to-find 1952 Star Cal decals...

Bleated by a few days, "Oldest living MLB All Star" certainly deserves B'day wishes. Happy 98th B'day Mr. Westlake. Thanks for sharing the oddball cards, guys.
