She was my favorite relative and treated all her grandchildren like gold, so the glory didn't go to her head. Though, even in her 80s, she would occasionally remind me she was May Queen of 1930.

Posted By: <b>davidcycleback</b><p>The opposite end of the 'beauty' spectrum is a Cairn terror I owned (Toto of Wizard of Oz<br />was a cairn). As a puppy, it didn't look right for the breed. <br />I sent a photo to the Cairn society of England. The return letter said that my<br />dog appeared to be a Cairn but was a particularly poor example, and strongly recommended against <br />breeding it. In other words, my dog was too funny looking to be allowed to have kids.<br /><br />Perhaps a commentary on beauty, I had two Cairns at the time and the other was a perfect<br />example of the breed and in fact looked exactly like Toto. While the funny looking<br />one had a fiendly, gregarious personality and everyone loved him, the 'beautiful' one<br />was aloof and problematic, and little kids weren't allowed near her. When she got old, <br />I would say she was still around "because Hell wouldn't taker her."
