Winning and losing on an eBay lot at the same time.

In honor of not outing an active auction, I will not be listing the link to the auction lot in question.

So, I put in a bid which ties the high bidder and I get the message on the site of the lot on eBay that I have been outbid. At the same time, I receive in my e-mail, the message entitled "Your bid is winning now but watch out for competition:" followed by the title of the auction lot.

This is an eBay glitch that needs to be addressed. I will call them tomorrow.

And here I thought this post was going to be about winning an auction and then realizing that you bid way to much for it.

I have always wondered, when you see 2 identical top/winning bids from 2 different bidders, who is actually the top/winning bidder? Just noticed this the other day. 2 bidders, with only one on top, of course, but both bids were identical?

Also, seen this happen to me. Was told I was the winning bidder or won the card and within milliseconds, it said I did not win?

If two identical max bids come in on an item, I believe the first one is the winner.

This happened to me once, years ago (2004). I was new to eBay. I bid $1000 on a T206 Uzit, but lost to an earlier $1000 bid. Now I bid in odd increments.

That works most of the time. But I lost by 1 cent last night.

He had double stacked bids Leon, so technically, you don't know what his true "top bid" was....you were just one cent under his first low bid...before he rebid higher.

Last month I bid with seconds to go and watched the count down and the green bar popped us saying I won the lot. I went to pay for it and was unable to, I went back and was told that I lost the lot????

You just won the eBay "Guess the top bid" contest. For winning that, you receive two conflicting messages.

I've said this too many times... when eBay outsourced their development overseas, this is an example of the result.

I have 3 items in my "cart" and they are virtual as they are non existent. I have seen other quirky things lately too. Oh well...take the good with the bad I guess...btw, I realize that on the auction I lost by a penny the high bidder had another bid in too....but still.....
