I take it he's a little bitter that he sold one of the first ones to the kid in psa 8 for a few hundred bucks.

benderbroeth 02-21-2017 03:23 PM

oh god.

Republicaninmass 02-21-2017 03:30 PM

Guessing he bought the one from the psa registry guy who breaking his set at the inflated market value, and now the "punk kid from CA" wont over extend on it.

SMPEP 02-22-2017 10:37 AM

I never could get that "punk kid in CA" to bite on my red ink overprint on back.

He was willing to pay a lot more for a PSA8 (which has 40 graded versions) than the one Bartirome that actually has a printing error.

I would figure after 30 PSA 8s that all look the same in a collection, having the one of a kind print error would be the cool one to own - but what do I know.

Cheers,
Patrick

What you need to do is email him that he is blocked from your auctions, then offer the card on eBay. He doesn't even want it until you say no to him.

clydepepper 02-22-2017 02:30 PM

He should have them all re-slabbed , 'Punk Kid from CA Collection'

clydepepper 02-22-2017 02:32 PM

Y'all do realize that this thread is Tony Bartirome's secondary 15 minutes of fame (assuming the first one was getting to the majors originally which should have been noticed by someone)...hope he's alive to enjoy it.

I disagree. The thread where the "punk kid" came to this site trying to buy some and ended with him banned would be the "secondary 15 minutes of fame".

The punk kid from California has had an hours worth of 15 minutes of fame, or more appropriately 15 minutes of infamy.

Yeah we're talking about the 15 minutes of fame of Tony Bartirome, not of Cole 'Punk Kid' Bartiromo.

SMPEP 02-23-2017 11:34 AM

Adam - He actually "bought" the card using one of his "stealth" ebay accounts (yes, he has multiple buying accounts on Ebay). He just never paid.

Tony Bartirome is still alive, but as far as I know he is unaware of Cole Bartiromo's machinations.

A decent looking copy from Invest In Baseball.

They currently have some nice cards up and are receiving quite a few bids as well.

clydepepper 02-26-2017 02:27 PM

SEE! Good for Tony...not cole (technically, different last name anyway).

No, Teddy. Not bitter at all.

Rather, the "Punk Kid" clicked "Buy It Now" and never paid - using a secondary eBay username that I had not yet blocked, of course. He's done that to at least one other seller that I know of. I believe there are likely other sellers that have had this occur.

After being invoiced several times and not replying, he finally came clean that indeed he was the phantom Punk out in CA. He proceeded to lay into me with some rather abusive superlatives. Only then did I relist the card with the "Punk Kid" reference.

Well, all I can say is, he made his bed -- now he can lie in it. Do you have any idea how many true collectors need that card and have to pay small fortunes to find one now? I do. Because many true set builders have come to us looking for #332, among the other 489 cards needed for the '52T Master.

And Teddy, I will avoid slander, but I've not met anyone more two-faced in this industry. You know who I am. You know that these are my listings. You know that that is our PSA Registry Set. Heck, you have my email address and my home address. We have done deals and emailed back and forth over the years. We are "ehazuka" on ebay. Our Registry sets are "Hazu". I don't know how I could be more transparent.

Please, I beg of you, moving forward, if you have something to say, say it to ME. I enjoy these forums. Net54 and the PSA community forums both. However, I do not frequent them. Last month I stumbled across your comments about the opened GAI '52T Wax Pack in the PSA Collectors forum. This month, I see these references to us and the #332 Bartirome, from back in February of this year. Good grief. I'll close with this, Teddy. If you don't have something good to say about a colleague, please, don't say anything PUBLICLY at all -- unless it is deserved. You have my contact information. If you don't like the way we participate in the card market, shoot me an email. We'll talk.

Nice article in SMR, Teddy, by the way.
