Recent Soccer Pickups

Seems like this side of the board has been dead, so i will try and get it going again! Tough Puskas rookie to track down and incredibly rare Dr. Sarosi (from Malta... only a couple of known copies).
For those who do not know Sarosi, he is widely consider a top 10 pre-war soccer star and was ranked 60th European in the Player of the Century in the IFFHS' Century Elections. |
Recent Pick-ups
Hi : Really nice pick-ups! I have the Puskas as well.
Although, since mine was not hand cut out as nice as your I just asked SGC to encapsulate it as authentic. The Sarosi is rare! Nice card. Grade doesn't matter very much. Th Puskas is also rare! Again, nice pick-ups, Congrads! Ray |
Some more...

Cool Ray... super cool.... love the Puskas... here is another cool one... the Sindelar rookie... Sindelar was ranked as Austria's best footballer of the twentieth century by the IFFHS, also ranking as the world's 22nd best. A top 3 pre-war soccer player and one who (many say) was killed by the Nazis due to his dissonance (refusing to play for the Germans)...

Anyone else want to share?

My primary collecting interest is certain types of soccer memorabilia, albeit not cards.
This is my most recent acquisition which I took possession of last week. It is a large model of Real Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium. It took 4 years for the artist to complete and was previously on display at Real Madrid's museum from 2007 to 2015. https://s29.postimg.org/hqvopxcmf/20170211_071526.jpg |
Wow... that stadium is amazing!! Holy cow!
how bid is it? Looks to take up most of that room. |
The photo is probably slightly deceptive in that it is an inlet in a larger room. However, the stadium is fairly big - it is circa 1.7 metres by almost 1.5 metres in size.
There are circa 80,000 individual seats and, all-in-all, a nice item. |

I was able to agree a private sale with its creator. I am primarily located in London but my collection is all housed in Northern Ireland so I had to get the item over to Northern Ireland from Madrid. It was an expensive process !! I am a collector primarily of high quality Real Madrid and Brazilian football memorabilia and, in particular, memorabilia relating to Belfast Celtic, my football team I support but that has not played since 1949. http://i65.tinypic.com/1zo7qx2.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/2s0z1ax.jpg |
That stadium and you commitment to getting it is exemplary
Nice to see Bale back in the lineup and off to a good start with the goal. Regards, Ruben |
OMG. Pretty cool. My wife would never let me get one of those!!! Super amazing though!! Thanks for the pictures!!

Ok, there's got to be a really interesting story there! The team still exists but hasn't played? Or a team that doesn't exist but still has fans? Steve B |

I had assembled a fairly impressive collection of rare, albeit fairly niche in terms of collector appeal, by my early 20s. In particular, pre World War Two programs from Northern Ireland are especially rare as so much of the paper was donated for the war effort. I sold that collection to concentrate more on medals i.e. medals won by players for winning competitions, included higher end items such as European Cup Winners medals. This remained my focus until a few years ago when I saw a trophy up for auction in a major auction house, bought it, became hooked on its beauty and decided to try to obtain more trophies. I have a good, trusted contact in Madrid and have been able to source a small number of trophies this way. The trophies in the photo shown here (Spanish Copa del Rey, European Cup, Spanish La Liga) were each made by Alegre, the Madrid jeweller than is officially commissioned by the Spanish Football Federation. The trophies are expensive and negotiating for these and even logistically bringing them back to Northern Ireland where I house them can be difficult. It’s fair to say that I don’t know anyone else who collects these sorts of items - it’s certainly not a mainstream collectors’ market. Ultimately, I’m hoping to donate by long-term loan some of the trophies to a museum in Northern Ireland. http://<a href="https://ibb.co/evqDB...order="0"></a> |

Yeah I know everyone says it, but this does look better than the grade, which I think punishes a small spot/mark on the back.

Nice copy

Al according to the pop report there is a 6 out there.

I have seen a few high grade examples in PSA holders and I strongly believe that someone is trimming them.

Just back from PSA. Obviously, Bruce Lee didn't play soccer, but it was the same submission and I think it's a pretty cool card.

First of all, these stickers were issued in sheets - nine stickers on each sheet. Kids would peel the stickers off and put them in the album. Now it's not difficult to find these complete albums online, but PSA won't grade these. The backs have already been peeled off and they are stuck inside the album making it impossible to remove. You need to get your hands on the original sheet containing the Ronaldo sticker, and then you have to cut it out (using an xacto knife). It's really difficult to find these sheets. The second thing I want to say is that the last PSA 6 went for over $500 USD, and this is pretty high considering how cheap his other ones are. PSA has graded only 3 examples so far! |
Agree....

Ok, you probably have a better gauge on these than i do but i have seen quite a few of them. I had no issues landing a nice one however I have passed on several that seem to have back issues. Thanks for the heads up on the sheets and I am glad i didnt have to use an xacto.

Thanks--it is actually a postcard during his early years (1994) with PSV Eindhoven. This is one that i would consider quite difficult to pick up as I have only seen a couple of others and not nearly in as good condition although I would like to hear the others weigh in.
