If played in the Dead Ball era, who would win?
 

The 1919 White Sox or the 1927 Yankees? Obviously, the game would be on the level.

Yankees.

A bunch of those White Sox guys were slightly above average players whose names have lived on because of the scandel. Had people like Swede Risberg, Lefty Williams, Happy Felsch and Chic Gandil been able to finish their careers without incident, we would just think of them as semi stars or even common players from the era. A great team, but not even really close to the '27 Yankees in my opinion.

It would be a sweep by a landside Whitesox wouldn't have a chance.

1919 was a time of transition. Ruth jacked 29HRs in 1919 and the next two years he had 50+ HRs. That pretty much was the beginning of the end of the dead ball era. I'd put my money on the 27 Yanks.

Risberg and Gandil didn't have much left in the tank. But Felsch was going to be great. Look at Felsch's numbers in 1920. He was still just a kid, but he slugged 540 and had an OPS of 923. He, Jackson, Weaver, Collins and the solid pitching, with Red Faber in good shape, would be a great match. And don't forget the Sox's defensive skills would still mean something in the "live ball era." Mack said that Felsch was the best centerfielder he ever saw. Schalk, Collins, Weaver, et al were better fielders than the Yankees, and this would matter in a close series.

Just for the sake of being a pain in the backside:

Are we talking about a best-of-9 series like the one in 1919 or a best-of-7 like most Series of the Deadball Era (and also in 1927)?

I'd lay my money on the Bronx Bombers. But it would likely be a hell of a Series.
