Would anybody know what this is and what era/timeframe it may have came from? Some sort of signage/promotional piece, a friend found it in a relatives attic and was asking me – I didn’t have a clue but thought I would put it out here to see if anybody knew what it was/era? My apologies in advance if this is in the wrong forum, pre or post war - I am really not sure off the picture.

Many thanks!

That's what I was thinking, but why would someone buy that and put it on their car? Hmmmmm.

RedsFan1941 06-27-2018 06:55 PM

that’s exactly what it is

Couldn't date it for sure but they were very popular in the 1950s. Have been collecting them for years.

Were license plate toppers usually that big? That's what it looks like for sure, but it just seems too big to be one.

RedsFan1941 06-27-2018 07:00 PM

i’ve seen others of similar size, some larger and more ornate, believe it or not

I'll be damned. That's one cool friggin' license plate cover.

JollyElm 06-27-2018 07:06 PM

If you put it on your front license plate, you won't be able to see the road.

Thank you everyone! Very interesting, never thought it to be a license plate holder/topper but can definitely see how/it may have been in the timeframe noted. I really had no idea what this was and knew if I came here I would gain some good insight.

Many thanks again!

Not a plate, a decorative topper. Kind of like a frame today.
