Anyone have period photographs of pre of post-war cards in the hands of early collectors? What about corner store bubble gum packs?

There is this classic F. W. Woolworths photo. As I recall Levi (707) has the original. Dave.:)

Someone on the board came up with this photo of a guy with a bunch of cards pinned to his walls. They called it a dorm room circa 1911.

These pictures are great!!!!

That dorm room pic is very cool, never seen it before. Looks like he had a quite a few big time T206s pinned to the wall there ;)

Not period but I believe this is a photo of Harry Caray & Gabby Street from 1945

These displays were auction off by H&S.

Thanks to everyone sharing these photos- love em! :D

That dorm room photo is amazing, supposedly the calendars in the background are from 1910-1911.

I am doubtful that is a dorm. Check out the mosquito netting on the top bunk and the dirty white "uniform" of the subject. Military perhaps?

Hold up, what that on his night stand?

A Piedmont pack on the bottom shelf & calendars from 1910 & 1911...pretty cool.

The dorm room picture is very good. Thanks for posting the enlargement.

I collect old military items and I believe this is a military photo. Take a look at the guy's headboard. I'm almost positive that is the quartermaster logo.

Chris

Can you pan up to the upper left part of the picture and enlarge.

Seems odd. Where the 2 walls meet towards the top are what appears to be T205 and possible a T206 Ty Cobb but enlarged, not standard size. That wouldn't seem to make any sense. On the other hand, maybe I'm just seeing things. If yes, why would they be enlarged?

I dont think its dorm or military, military wouldnt allow the uniform to look like that ,and the bed to be made looking like that also. Could be a dirty older hospital room as the other bed also has mosquito netting, I also see some old pill bottles on the shelf . In any event nice photo.

Military school maybe?

Mystery card

Thanks for the enlargement Chris. I can easily identify all the cards shown except for one. Does anyone recognize, in the grouping behind the head of the man, the card third row from the top and third from the right (it is the card two down from Matty pitching black cap)? Is it a Southern Leaguer?

Brian

I'll have to check tonight but I believe this is a military hospital. I once met another military collector who was selling a military hospital bed from this period and it looked just like the one in the photo.

I believe that is a mosquito net above his bed (or rack for former and present military personnel)

I see what you mean, but it's just an optical illusion based on where the Cobb is located on the wall.

I cut and pasted one of the other T206's and put it next to the Cobb, and you can see more clearly that they are the same size.

Brian,

It's Reulbach (no glove) I thought it was but after double checking it's not. Fred Payne maybe?

Should have been smoking Uzits...his great-grandchildren would be thanking him.

Also, it's interesting to see the definite presence of the super print cards--he has two blue portrait Chases.

Anyone have anymore cool vintage photos?
