T215 oriental characters/OT

We have talked about T215 Pirate cards here before . The baseball cards most of us will never own . I have been collecting the Oriental character cards for a long time ... And today I came across these and was surprised when I flipped them over .

Has anyone seen or heard of these ?

Sorry I'm having trouble getting a scan up...the back says Eagle Bird Cigarettes.

my question might be

WHY are you collecting the character cards :D I'm all for it BTW! My world tobacco index is packed but not far away. Would you like me to find it?

Eagle Bird

Eagle Bird was a British American Tobacco Co brand that was issued in China and Siam. It looks like they made around 20 sets, including Birds, Warriors, Cock Fighting and others, between 1909 and 1929. Most of the singles book anywhere from a buck to 3 bucks. The highest prices are for the Cock Fighting cards. Around $12-15 each.

Why? I guess because I've always liked the pirate back and never chose to spend the beans on baseball ... As well as liking Japanese culture . There are also a bunch of back variations also which makes it even more fun .

I have never seen any of the cards y'all are talking about. Does anyone have some pictures? Thanks.

Why are all of the known Pirate T215 baseball cards in such terrific shape? Were they all part of the same find?

couple/three good threads here in the past

about them. After all 90+ cards = nearly one MILLION dollars. Short answer is yes - 99% from the same source. As to whether they were actually issued - matter of debate :-) I had 2/3 opportunities to buy one not part of that over the pond load - Martin Murray and Alan Haegar.....
