I am almost done with a 1972 Kellogg’s Master set in PSA 9. This is my birth year and I just love the 3D images and great player selection. Thinking of doing the 1970 Kellogg’s as I like the look of that one, too. Also a fan of the 1970 Topps Super. What other “off-beat” sets should I be considering???

Assuming you want to keep the price reasonable, you are absolutely correct and partially correct. 70 Kelloggs are beautiful, not hard to find in top shape, and are reasonably priced. I'd go with the 71 Topps Super set over '70. More cards; much prettier photography; better selection of stars and probably end up being cheaper and easier to find in top condition (harder to find nice '70s).

I prefer many of the 70s to the 71s.

- 1970's Kellogg is one of the best looking sets, would be a great choice - 1969 Nabisco is one of my favorites, great images, 33 players (I think), lots of HOFers - Aaron, Mays, Clemente, Robinsons, plus one of Rose's best cards - 1971 Milk Duds - another set, small numbers, lots of HOFers, plus Munson, Rose, and hand cut or full boxes add to its mystique. Black & white/sepia though |
