Helping someone out who posted this on Facebook.. Does this look like a legit Gehrig or fake?

Thanks

The ink is lighter than the rest of the signatures. It looks like a lighter gray-ish dull ballpoint pen.

Also just realized that Melvin Ott is above the Cork Center

considering Gehrig died before ballpoints came into use that would be a bad sign...

Not loving this ball, personally. Gehrig signature lacks speed IMO

It's not ballpoint. And it's good.

You can barely see it.

How can you possibly gauge the speed or if it's good or not?

You can barely see it. How can you determine its ballpoint?

50+ years of experience helps, Manny. (I obtained my first Gehrig in 1966.)

Because of the light application. A dull ballpoint would be perfect for that, if that is the effect you want. Any other pen, a marker, a fountain pen, etc., will leave dark lines.

in my opinion that is legit

Is that so? :)
