Look at the difference in price

Posted By: Elliot
I just wanted to point out these two auctions. Both for the same card. Both graded PSA 4. Not much to choose between the two cards. The two cards ended about the same time. But look at the huge difference in price. I can just imagine if one of these cards were graded by a different company, how it would be used as an example of the supriority of one grading company over another. Just goes to show you that you can't look at isolated incidences.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4135673982&sspagename= STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4135665525&sspagename= STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1

One other point....the high bidder in the high auction is a regular bidder on ebay, and there is no reason to suppose that he is a shill bidder.

Posted By: Elliot
At least 3 of the direct underbidders are legit. Why they didn't bid on the other card is hard to understand.

Posted By: Judge Dred
I think the difference in price is related to the quality of the scans provided. The higher priced card had several nice scans available, the lower priced card had one very unclear scan. I wouldn't have bid that much more for the same grade card but then again I probably wouldn't have bid on the card with the poor scan either.

Posted By: Ryan Christoff
The cheaper one has a huge stain on his sleeve. That alone should be enough to account for the difference in price.

Same grade. One has a big ugly stain, one doesn't. The price difference seems about right to me.

-Ryan
