Clemente authentication help

1 Attachment(s)
I have a friend who owns the attached signed Clemente 1964 Giant card. The story is that his friend got it in person in 1970 at a game in Cinci. I told him I would solicit help from the foremost experts in the industry to get qualified opinions as to its authenticity. Any help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Please let me know your thoughts about the authenticity of this Clemente autograph. Thanks, as always.

I am certainly no expert. I don't generally offer opinions about such things. However, the things that give me pause are the R in Roberto and the LE look different from what I have seen from other examples from that time period. The signature also looks a bit deliberate in my opinion. The spacing between the first and last name seems to be much wider than others I have seen. I think that card in particular is highly sought after by people completing signed versions of that set. That coincidence may or may not be a red flag? For what its worth here is my 1972 Clemente for comparison. It came with fairly solid provenance. I do see some similarity. However my concerns would be enough to dissuade me from buying it. I hope this helps as you await more educated opinions.

Thank you both for your responses. I was concerned about the "R" and the flow of the first name, especially, as well.

Any other opinions are welcome, as I enjoy getting insights of others for educational reasons.

Thanks again.

I’ve got a couple of Clemente’s, and this one feels off unfortunately, everything looks too neat and deliberate

No opinion on the specific signature, but the fact the ole 'friend of a friend' got it in person throws up a big red flag...unless you could talk to that friend of a friend and see if he seems legit.
