R&S Artistic ever do boxing cards?

Hi guys,

I know R&S Artistic did baseball "cards" (they're really Oblaten, die cut and embossed scraps), but I'm wondering if they also did Boxing cards.

I am working my way through a scrapbook from the 1890s, in which there were a number of R&S baseball cards. On the same pages are two boxing cards, both that say "Heavy" (see scan below.)

I am reasonably certain they are R&S; the imagery is very similar (same artist?), the writing on the cards is similar, the size is similar, the paper type is similar. But haven't been able to find anything about them.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Laura

I have never seen them before and have only seen a few die-cut or scarp type issues myself. Most of them are advertising trade card type pieces that would not be classified as any type of set. I think you do make a very good point, anything is possible and R&S could have made all types of sport die-cuts including boxing. I have seen similar non sport issues as well, but I think the baseball pieces are the only ones that seem to carry a set designation to them.
