Found this also. Given out at his last game, I had it signed about a year or two ago. Unfortunately signed in silver (I asked for silver but in the dark area)so the contrast is bad.

I started my HOF auto collection by going to card shows in the 80s, and most of the interactions were not memorable as the players would sign item after item without looking up. Stan the Man was different. He smiled really wide when I approached him. He asked, "Do you play baseball, son?" I replied that yes, I did. I'll never forget that he said "you look like you can hit a ton!" and laughed a warm laugh.*

I think I was 12, and I remember thinking that he probably says that to all of the 12 year olds in line, but I didn't care. He tried to make my few seconds with him memorable and it worked. Great ball player and great guy.

Here's the 8x10 he signed for me

Can't believe nobody has posted one of these: this isn't mine, since it's packed away, but I have a beautiful signed 16x20 framed 3000th hit photo purchased from his website.

A while ago I asked everyone about sending in my 1963 Stan-the-Man vinal record to get signed. I ended up passing on the opportunity but instead my wife ended up getting me this item instead for Christmas.

While I don't normally go for modern numbered relic cards, I thought this one looked great and got it a few years ago. Numbered 10 of 10 Topps Sterling.

I have a few more Musial autos including the signed ball I just got from Scott here on the forum last week.

What a great story.

I read an article today that called Musial something to the effect of the Joe DiMaggio of St Louis.

As a Yankee fan, I can say I wish DiMaggio was as cool as Musial. :)

It's not mine, but it's Mr. Musial

https://twitter.com/toppscards/statu...069697/photo/1

It's from the forthcoming 2013 Topps series 1.

I do have a couple baseballs signed by Stan Musial, obtained IP at a Dodgers-Cardinals playoff game in 1985. I saw him sitting in the "playoff seats" (what are now the MVP box seats in Dodger Stadium down the 1st and 3rd base lines used to be foul territory where they would put in temporary seating during the playoffs) on the 3rd base side and got him to sign them after the game ended. Amazingly no one else was coming up to him for his autograph - it's not as if he wasn't easily recognizable.

Hate posts like these, but its also great to celebrate a perfect ambassador to the game...was very hard for me with Killebrew, as I'm sure Jarrod can attest to as well.
