1968 Shirriff Coins

I understand that there is a series of coins that are SP within the set and that New York and Oakland coins are somewhat scarcer than other SP's. What coins are the toughest? All of these or only 1 or 2. I haven't seen a guide that comments on this. At least in the US. I have seen some older threads that group these SP's into sections, but no guide.

Comments welcome. thx

Thx. Are any of the Group 5 Oakland coins scarcer than the others? Also the NY coins scarcer? The NY14 seems to be priced higher even though he is not a star.

I've been trying to locate a price Guide for these. I know years ago there were values in a Charlton publication. I also seem to remember another small magazine/book type paperback that had values. Most people who collect these probably have there own viewpoint, looking for any recent guideline.

thx

had to look back on this post to see how long it took me to complete this set. So probably 2 years. Quite a while I know. Between the start and the end, 2 partial sets were listed on ebay. of which I was able to win about 75% of the 176 coins and 2 variations that I discovered along the way. While trying to complete it, there were a couple of heavy bidders that seem to have unlimited funds, to the point of winning/bidding $40+ for a common coin as opposed to maybe $10. The big 3 Oaklands were obviously the hardest, in particular Vadnais. the Stewart - NY16 was much tougher than the Jeffrey - NY14 for me. Anyway, happy to finally complete this challenging set.

They are all listed in the Bobby Burrell "Cards-Collectibles-Merchandise" publication. The three Oakland coins all book at $1,000 each in his guide. The 4 Ranger SP's all book at $250.00 each.It is a tough set to complete. But that is what makes collecting fun.Good luck if you are building a set.
