Help with Babe Ruth signed and dated ball

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy my first BR ball and although the signature is very faint (almost unreadable) I'm interested in it for the name it's inscribed to and the date written on the ball as both are in my family.

I missed out on this last year at auction and it has come up on eBay, the seller might indeed be on this forum so any info would be greatly appreciated.

As it's mainly the date written that I am drawn to, I am curious as to why a 1930 date would be written on a supposed game used 1927 ball?

What are your thoughts on this?

Much appreciated.

I should say, I am not questioning the authenticity of the signature, there is a LOA from PSA/DNA. I am curious if the date was added at a later date then the signature. Thanks

How on earth could anyone authenticate that signature?!? "X-Ray Spex"?!?

Honestly. I can tell just from the pics on the computer that the signature is good. I can also tell you that I'm 99% positive it was not a HR ball.

Thanks. I think it was listed as being a foul ball, not necessarily Ruth's. But would they play with a 1927 ball in a 1930 game?

Thanks for the input. Greatly appreciated.

It looks like it's faded since it was authenticated in 2009. I assume you can see it under blacklight though.
