SCD vs GAI example

Posted By: runscott
So which does better on ebay? I know this is not statistically sound, and the seller of the GAI-graded card has awful feedback.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31718&item=1982771 970

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31718&item=1982376 573

Posted By: Hankron
Without appologies, I regularly use 'attractive' as a description for baseball memorabilia, and have likely even used 'pretty.' I draw the line at 'hottie.' In fact, I try to avoid the word 'hottie' at any point during my day.

They would probably lose 10% or more of their vaunted Powersellers if they lowered the neg tolerance to 1%.

Go talk to anyone running a major corporation and ask them if 2% negative response would be tolerable.

Jay

Posted By: runscott
the word "awful" refers to something "not good", as in "very very not good".

Posted By: warshawlaw
Notice that Cobb's name is slightly cut off at the bottom and the bottom of the letters and the comma is visible on the top border. For my money, the GAI card is the better card.

I haven't really paid any attention to the lesser lights like SCD and GAI because I haven't seen very many cards from either service that I had any interest in collecting. The one GAI card I own is overgraded but I bought it for the card not the grade, so I don't care. I own no SCD cards.

As far as feedbacks go, 33 negatives out of 2500 deals is a lot, but you also should see what they are about before judging (I wish ebay allowed you to click on the negatives column and see all of the negatives for the person, so you could develop and understanding of who is complaining and what they are complaining about). If the item was something I really wanted and I could pay for it with a credit card and I could get it shipped on my Fed Ex account or with insurance, I would probably take the leap and buy it.
