1938 Sawyer Biscuit wrapper/envelope?
Hello out there to all you fellow collectors. This is my first posting on the pre war side of the board and I hope you can help me. I have posted a scan of a wrapper type or baggie that measures almost 3" by 6". I have had this for some years now and was thinking of putting it on ebay but would like more information on it regarding the origin, value, etc. My first thought was that it is from the 1938 issue of the Sawyer Biscuit Company out of Chicago that produced cards for the Cubs and White Sox. However, it reads " University of Notre Dame".
Can any of you share some information for me on this item? Thanks so much for all of your input. Rick http://oi42.tinypic.com/90r0xv.jpg |
I will go out on a limb
The Sawyer Biscuit Company distributed their products in different ways. They probably sold their baking goods at (or to) the University and had specialized bags made for them. Good advertising. I collect these type things, a bit, and would say value would be $10-$35....maybe a bit more but not much. These are only semi-educated guesses based on comparable items I have seen sold.
