OT -- Special Request for Panini

I know we usually don't discuss modern cards (even 1980 on up) but a former co-worker of mine from Beckett, now at Panini, requested if anyone knew the date or was real close to when the 1982 Donruss Set was released.

The specific question refers to the San Diego Chicken as they put this in the timeline. Even if close, that's more than my memory will permit.

If you happen to have the research materials available and can look that up please contact Scott Prusha of Panini directly. His email address is sprusha@paniniamerica.net

Thank you for your help with this!

Rich

I thought from the title you were looking for some sandwiches for your card show.

One of my customers at the old Dallas Card Show location owned a bunch of Jersey Mike stores. I would love him to bring them :)
Kosher style of course

Vintage Gourmet?

Let me get this straight.

You are importing chicken from San Diego to make sandwiches for a card show in Texas, but you want to make sure the chicken is more than 30 years old first. What are you serving to wash these sandwiches down?:D

If I remember it right it was early, maybe not an exact date, but in January or early February. It was a bit of a big deal at the time because the cards typically had been out near the beginning of the season and all three companies tried to beat the others to market by being early.

I may have some old SCDs, but I'm not sure where they are.

The exact date would actually vary depending on when an order shipped, and how far away the dealer was. Or for retail distance to the wholesaler or depot then processing time through their system.

Even being close is better than what Panini currently has. So we'll take a close date and notate later if we have to.

Rich:
All three companies had their sets for sale middle of January 1982. I placed an order for the Topps and Donruss sets mid January of that year from Renata Galasso (remember that company?) and both came to me by the first week in February. Each came separately on different days, too. Does that help?

Very much so

Thanks!
