WHY DO YOU NEVER SEE OR HEAR MUCH ABOUT THE M101-6 SET??

Posted By: Glen V
7-10 of them hit Ebay a year or so ago. Thought the prices were pretty good on the them. Fritsch has 22 in his '05 catalog, including a number of HOFers. Maybe he still has the Buck Weaver for $550. I heard he collects M101-6s, so maybe he's hoarding the nice ones?

WHY DO YOU NEVER SEE OR HEAR MUCH ABOUT THE M101-6 SET??

Posted By: Todd Schultz
Many dealers and ebay sellers don't know what they are. Also, they are an odd size, not slabable, which seems to be important to some or many.

Glen's right--about a dozen went off in March on Ebay, as well as another Schalk about a month later. I won 6 (Dan McKee won the WJ--an absolute jewel at a great price), and I also won a small lot of VGish from Lew Lipset last year. Another seller had 2-3 last summer on ebay, and I bought a Roush from him privately. Fritsch actually had a few dozen in his catalogue over the past year, but I got gun-shy hearing about his grading standards and seeing his prices.

Another Felix Mendelsohn issue, these are nice.

Posted By: zach
You have to order his catalogue. . ....his website has everything in his catalogue but it takes forever to load and you're better off just ordering his catalogue.

WHY DO YOU NEVER SEE OR HEAR MUCH ABOUT THE M101-6 SET??

Posted By: Bob Lemke
In doing some nosing around in 1917 Sporting News microfilm, it became apparent M101-6 is not a Sporting News supplement or premium issue at all, but rather a Felix Mendelsohn production that was available as early as 1917, and perhaps was updated a bit as time went on. I'll be working something up into a column in SCD in the next couple of months.

WHY DO YOU NEVER SEE OR HEAR MUCH ABOUT THE M101-6 SET??

Posted By: Hal Lewis
I often wondered if the "F.M." below the trademark on those cards could stand for Frederick Mendelsohn...

and it sounds like we will find out soon!

WHY DO YOU NEVER SEE OR HEAR MUCH ABOUT THE M101-6 SET??

Posted By: Todd Schultz
How about a little cred? I posted almost two years ago that m101-6 was produced by Felix Mendelsohn.

BTW, I'd be interested to see the ad to which you refer from 1917, but if it's the one from March 15, 1917, those are not m101-6 he's listing for sale.

WHY DO YOU NEVER SEE OR HEAR MUCH ABOUT THE M101-6 SET??

Posted By: Todd Schultz
but it appears they also had m101-5 wrong all these years too, as no one has come up with a true m101-5 bearing a Sporting News Back.
