1956 Topps Mantle PSA 3 vs. PSA 4
2 Attachment(s)
How in the world are these 2 cards 1 grade apart? There must be a lot I have to learn about the process.

I would guess that the PSA 4 graded card received a lower grade due to the poor centering. The owner when submitting the card for grading may have indicated that the did not want an (OC) qualifier. I already have a 56 Topps Mantle but if I was in the market for one, I would pick the PSA 3 graded card over the PSA 4 due to the 3 having much better centering.
Happy collecting Duane Clark |
I would take the 4 and be willing to be jealous of Duane's centering.

I think I'd take the 4. I'd sacrifice the centering for the sharp colors and corners.
Actually, if I'm "taking" the cards in this scenario, I'd take either one.:) |
I would take the 4 also. I think it is undergraded and should have received a 5 even factoring in the centering.

Corners on the 4 much better

Scans much too small to determine how good either card is, IMO.

It’s likely the 4 has a crease.
