Posted By: <b>Mike Pugeda</b><p>As I was bored and browsing through some past auction catalogs of Mastro, I was once again astounded by the collection entitled "A Southern Gentleman's Passion." This collection was massive and I found myself wiping drool as I thumbed through the pages. My question is, does anybody know whose collection this once belonged to? And also, what were the circumstances for selling the collection (collector passed, collector's new interests).<br /><br />I was simply blown away more by this collection than say Barry Halper's (w/ all due respect) simply by the sheer quantity and quality he/she amassed.<br /><br />Any input appreciated and thanks in advance.<br /><br />Mike

When I sold the now legendary group of six Just So's, he won five of them and was underbidder on the sixth. But he sold them privately before the auction. He was a great guy and I was very disappointed when he dropped out of the hobby almost without notice.

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>That vaguely rings a bell. I always thought he lost money when he sold his collection. He was a little too eager to buy, got involved with some shady sellers, and sold at the wrong time. Still thought he was a down to earth guy.
