i do not collect this set as a whole, but i do have a # of star cards, i have these 2 joe d's and would love to know if either is harder than the other to obtain?? maybe ted z could help, i asked this ? awhile back but did not have a scan to compare, now i do, anybody with help is appreciated, thanks......i am aware of a bunch of the other variations like the long sleeve short sleeve, etc but i dont remember this joe d being discussed much, again thanks for any help marty.

There are a lot of different players with color variations in the set. I don't recall seeing a yellow DiMaggio, and that definitely would be more rare than the common green background. I'd be curious if anyone knows how these variations occurred. My initial thought was that the yellow DiMaggio just missed the blue print run. But the blue on his sleeves is even bolder than in the green version. So I'll have to punt.

Ted Z has a theory on these I believe-if you search the site it should pop up ina few spots.

Marty, I suspect most or all of the common series have color variations. I've got a bunch and I know Dan McKee has many more than I do.
I've yet to notice a color variation in the short print series but I haven't handled nearly as many of those as the common series.
Here's a few:

Other than the white Musial I"ve not seen a premium placed on any color variation. I don't think any particular hue is any more difficult than another.
