RIP: Dallas Green and for some reason, Chuck Barris
Dallas Green, while remembered here for his long Baseball career, captured the hearts of the wider audience when his granddaughter, Christina was one of six people killed and a political rally in Tucson, AZ in 2011. No parent, let alone grandparent should ever have to face such grief.
Green was an average Major League player, and good manager and a pretty decent scout. IMO RIP Mr. Green as for Chuck Barris, if you never 'got' The Gong Show, you may be too uptight. Barris had previously given us The Dating Game and the Newlywed Game, both of which were thoroughly enjoyable for those of us alive at the time. RIP to the supposedly Dangerous Mind with a knack for the oddly funny. |
Yes, RIP Dallas Green. As a long time Cub fan, I truly believe his management of the Cubs was a major reboot for a dormant organization that can be seen even today. It opened eyes to, if nothing else, what the team was capable of financially as a brand.
Agree on Barris, he thought outside of the box. |
