Thank you, Mike. I don't have it in hand yet, but the seller (whom I trust) assured me no creases--corner and edge wear primarily accounted for the grade. Maybe a little surface wear. All in all, right up alley. :)

Thanks...that card has proven difficult to track down both centered and at a reasonable price!

They are both sweet cards.

Bob Swift was the Tigers catcher in the famous 1951 Eddie Gaedel photo.

Nice p/u Irv....more good progress for you on this set.

I recently grabbed these 3 'bums" in my quest to complete this beast of a set. I am down to 25 to go, all high numbers....the last 25 are pretty much the toughest that could remain....I still have 3 more tough "bums" to get. I did not count to see how many more Dodger cards I am still needing, but it appears a majority of the Dodger cards were in the last series of this set. Too bad this high percent of placement of NY cards in the last series did not help Topps sell more cards.

Those are great looking cards again, SFMS.

And only 25 to go!

Curious, are you aware of this site/link? It is full of great info and gets updated frequently.

Very nice 5 Seaver. That will likely be the range I go for when I can afford one. Which I suppose I need to start saving since I've decided I'm going after the '67 set...

Thank you guys...Irv, thank you for the link, pretty neat site. If all of the HOFers that could have been included in this set if it were not for their contracts with Bowman, this set would have been a much, much tougher set to complete.

It sure would have but I still wish those players like, Williams, Musial and Paige, to name a few, were still in it. I know it's a very popular set already, but adding those players would have made extra special, imo.

Congrats, nice card. I had a copy of that as a kid (late 80's, early 90's) that I picked up for relatively cheap at the time ($20 or so) at a show. When I got home I noticed it had "1952" typed on the back. LOL, my first lesson in inspecting carefully before I buy. Oh well, it bothered me for about 5 minutes and then I loved the card anyway.

Haha, yeah, unfortunately I'm STILL learning that lesson. I picked up a raw 52 Bowman Larry Doby for a good price at a card show last year, and I even checked the back. However, the lighting was pretty dim at that booth, and after getting the card outside in the sunlight, it clearly had been signed by "Kevin" lightly in pencil :)

Great looking 1975 rookies. I'm a huge Royals fan, and I was born in 1975, so naturally the Brett rookie is one of my all time favorites. My copy is pretty beat up, so my plan is to upgrade it to one like yours someday. But there's so many cards out there I'd like to own, that upgrading a card I already own keeps getting knocked down the priority list.

Knocked the second to last high number needed for my 1967 set off of my list. Sure, the centering is off (just like 99% of the cards that year), but it looks like it just came out of the pack, so I'm happy with it. I probably paid much more than I should have for a card with a qualifier, but since my ebay bucks knocked the price way down, I got it for around 20 bucks.

Attachment 322535

On a side note, I've needed this card for so long that something laughable came to mind. In the early days of the internet at the beginning of this new century, I used to post my want lists on various collecting sites and they would always be rejected for 'inappropriate language.' Ha ha! When I did further research, I discovered that the bad word causing all of the fuss was simply the second syllable of Joe's last name. That's it! So I changed his name to "Adc*ck," and then my posts were readily accepted. Very funny to remember those funny days of yesteryear.

And I thought it was just me! Thanks. :D Look at the Colavito I posted earlier today...I really never realized the centering issues the '67 set had before deciding to go after it.

Do you have the biggies covered in your 54 set, or do you still need Aaron, Banks, Kaline, Jackie, Mays, and both Ted's?

I can't help you out, just being nosey.

Hey! I have Jackie in a 7. I have Banks and Kalin but both are in SGC 4...need to upgrade those or sell to get better. Probably going to shoot for 6’s for the two Williams, Mays and a 5-5.5 for Aaron. Will be good enough for me.

I’m not doing the ‘66 set, but as a Cubs fan, this card has been on my want list for some time. Officially a high number SP, I’m not sure in the age of purchasing cards online that this can really be considered “rare” anymore - but either way I’m glad to have it!

I don't post much on the Post-War side as I am mainly a Pre-War Pirates Type collector. I'm also not a set collector. However, a couple years ago I decided to build a '56 Topps set becasue it's always been my favorite Post-War issue. I'm over half way done including most of the big name HOFers. With the recent 15% coupon and ebay bucks, I was able to knock this one off the list. It's my first and probably only Mantle (and the "rarer" WB version), so I'm psyched:

The centering is pretty decent for these guys.

(And as a parallel to my 1966/1968 Mantle thread from a short while back, I posit these photographs were most likely taken during the same photoshoot. The notch on the right side of his hat coupled with the positioning of his blue sleeves seem to be big tells.)

I had forgotten what a bear the centering on #712 Nolan can be. Mine was a PSA 6.5. It's centered better T-B than yours, but slightly worse L-R - maybe 70/30...but still a sharp looking card.

Congrats. Kellogg cards are a favorite of mine. My uncle used to work for Kelloggs and would bring home tons of cards back in the day.

Very nice. I love the Kellogg's sets, having completed them all, some more than once, and yet more in progress again. Yeah, I do like 'em haha. Good luck with the '71s, finding a good starter lot or two is huge if you're like me and can't pay what they cost one card at a time in NM.

Funny thing was - I stumbled across this browsing the auction!! I missed out on the only other one I know of about 3 years ago (this one is in much better condition). Most of the other panels sold on the low side - of course someone (anyone here?) was battling it out with me for this one - 3 AM and too much $$ later - I am its proud new owner!
