Stolen Base Trivia Question:

I heard this one the other day. The answer surprised me.

"In the post war era, there have been 3 players who have stolen at least 20 bases in 16 seasons or more. Two of them are Rickey Henderson and Lou Brock. Who is the third?"

My guesses as they popped into my head
Maury wills 12 times
Davey lopes 13 times
Bert Campaneris 14 times
Vince Coleman 12 out of 13 years played
Ozzie Smith 16 years in a row

You knew all that off the top of your head?

I have been trying all morning to figure this out...closest i've found so far is Willie Wilson at 15 years with 20

Ty Cobb?

edit: Never mind... post-war.

The answer is indeed Ozzie Smith!

I was personally surprised that he stole that many bases that consistently. He clearly made the most of his time on base -- his career OBP ranks 865th all time, while his 580 career stolen bases is 22nd all time.

I think he did what I do sometimes, a name will pop in my head and then I look up that particular player on Baseball Reference and check.

That’s 100% exactly what I did 🙂
Finding the answer gotta be easier than coming up with the questions

I am impressed with your Google skills. Just amazing. And you also spelled the names right when you copied them over!

Well, suppose you are out with your friends at a bar and someone asks that trivia question. You would all shout out your guesses, right? And the person who asked the question would say if you got the answer. If not you keep guessing until someone gets it. If you are the guy in the bar that looks through your phone until you find the right answer and then says Oh it's Ozzie Smith. That's not fun. Don't be that guy.

Al's point is the way this is supposed to work is either you know, or if you don't you guess, but you don't verify your guess then post it.
