He sent a Gehrig and Mantle to PSA from the same collection but decided not to send this one. Could happen I guess.

Robextend 06-04-2011 01:34 PM

Looks like the same exact card from the Net54 post.

bbcard1 06-04-2011 02:05 PM

Maybe he found it in Ted Zan's attic?

STOLEN SCANS.....1949 LEAF Satchell Paige card

That's my card alright, and I still own it......great observation.

And, it's easy for anyone to steal images from Net54 posts by simply clicking onto the "QUOTE" feature which provides the link(s) to the scan(s).

I'm going to continue to track this deal to see where it leads to.

Wow, and the 34 Gehrig he has for sale in another auction (buy it now) is actually my card. In the scan you can clearly see the PSA holder. This is the first time one of these scams has been somewhat personal, using one of my cards for the bait. Disgusting.

I reported the item, but eBay's reporting process is so vague and they do not leave a field in which you can add comments.

Gotta love the part of his description, "sorry for the rest of you HONEST ebayers, but one bad person ruins it for everyone. "

First is the cropped scan I made and posted on the PSA registry, 2nd scan is the card shown in the holder...

"selling my grandfather's cards" is usually a clear giveaway.

Welcome to the club Chuck.....nice '34 Goudey Gehrig.

This dude is from the Baltimore area and he seems to prefer yellow background cards.

I've had this Satchell Paige LEAF card since the Summer of 1982. And, now I see it "SOLD" on ebay......this is really weird.

Obviously, this dude is a Net54 lurker (I'd hate to think he is a member).

We'll fix his a$$.........

Not a smart man...

He didn't even bother cropping the scan. Anyone try to get the ebay identity yet? I think if you place a bid on an item, you can request his personal info. I'd suggest putting in a $1 offer on the Gehrigs...

dstraate 06-04-2011 05:24 PM

Well, at least he picked the right listing site to be a crook. I think it's safe to say that anyone under 500 feedbacks isn't trustworthy as a seller yet. (coming from a guy with 20 feedback...My wife needed the INSANITY workout tapes)

If the attic story didn't get you

The 1955 topps Mantle should!

deebro041 06-04-2011 05:29 PM

Insanity

Haha I have those Insanity dvd's, holy crap what a workout. Collecting dust now.

Thanks :) Very cool Paige card as well, Ted -- I saw your recent posting of it. I guess you could say that you also have the pleasure of seeing what your card might sell for on eBay... without actually listing it! ;) (although the shady auction listing likely kept serious bidders away)

Hopefully most folks use a cc via Paypal so they don't get completely ripped off. The strain on the system due to paypal and eBay having to deal with these crooks must be heavy.

Grandpa loved slabs

I noticed that the Gehrig card was a closeup pic of a card that was slabbed. You can see the slab border to the right of the photo. I thought it was odd that the seller made the situation out to be an "attic find", yet the cards were already graded.

I purchased the Paige card:( noticed Teds pictures after payment

I noticed Teds card pictures after I paid....By the way Ted your message box is full:). Tried to msg you and got error.

eBay has buyers protection on item and I have case open.

Thanks everyone for replies and opinions.

This is truly a great community:)
