Topps Trivia Question
What pitcher played in over 200 MLB games in 7 years, mostly in the 1960s, had 345 IP, and never had a Topps card? No internet searching.

Tony Horton?
|
I should have stated this guy is a pitcher, sorry Cliff.
Tony Horton does hold the record for most games played without being on a Topps card though. |
Marshall Bridges.
Decent relief pitcher who appeared in the '62 series with the Yankees |
Marshall Bridges is correct.
Never heard why he didn't have any Topps cards. Played from 1959-1965 every year. |
Maury Wills
That was a great question, Randy.
What about Maury Wills? Finally made the Dodgers roster in 1959 and beginning 1960 busted the league in stolen bases for the next six years. Didn't get a nationally distributed card until 1963 Fleer (I know not about the regionals) And not a Topps card until 1967! Great article here: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/spor...-prospect.html |
I think all three of those guys were known for their, let us say - prickly personalities. Probably got annoyed at Topps for some reason and never let go of it.
