Posted By: howard
Hi folks,

Can anybody post cards or photos of Frankie Terranova? He was active as a lightweight in the 30's and 40's mostly in New York. I was friends w/him 15-20 years ago when he was living out his last few years in the apartment building I worked in. A great guy and fine story teller, even in his dotage (which was probably accelerated by the many beatings he took in the ring).

Thanks,

Howard

Posted By: howard
Thanks, Boxingcardman. No, Frankie was never ranked. He was, more or less, a tomato can his entire career losing a decent amount more than he won. His younger brother, Phil, was frequently ranked though and he even beat Sandy Sadler once. Too bad you had to be good to have a card. I'm used to collecting baseball cards where even the scrubbiest of scrubs is likely to have at least one.

Thanks for the link, Aaron. That's only the second studio photo I've seen of Frankie. The other was owned by him and showed him later in his career a little more beaten up.

Howard
