Because one Logoman patch on a card is not enough. ;) Already eight different bidders at $22,000 and above. Yikes. I expected there to be tons of bid retractions among the high bidders when I looked at their history, but there isn't.

To each their own, but there are at least 50 different cards at REA that I would rather have for $23,000.

It looks to me like the ultimate in artificial "scarcity." Make 1 of some stupid thing and then hype it as a 1/1. It's not even a rookie card. I don't get it.

Oh, it absolutely is the ultimate in artificial scarcity.

I really don't see the point of spending 23 K on a card that is less than 10 years old. There is no shortage of bidders, that's for sure, so there must be some sort of fascination with the concept of the card..I hardly consider any autograph or game worn material to be rare, if the people who sign it are both alive and well..But there must be a market for this sort of thing..Likely driven by millennial's who have no sense of what things are worth..

You guys are missing three key points:

1) LeBron is one of the most popular athletes in the world and many people only collect athletes they see play, have seen play, or will see play.
2) LeBron has an exclusive autograph agreement with Upper Deck and Panini has an exclusive agreement with the NBA. Thus, there are no new Lebron NBA licensed autographed cards are being made and certainly no autographed logoman cards.
3) Many NBA collectors consider the “Exquisite” series to be the best high end basketball release ever yet it is no longer being produced since Panini has the exclusive NBA license.

So, in a sense, it’s not really artifical scarcity after all. I personally don’t have any interest in these cards, but I’m not surprised that others do and could see the buyers profiting even at these prices.
