Baseball players with hair like a girl

Where in the Hell did this stupid tradition start? Guys with hair down to their ass, WTF? I think it's silly looking and can't believe this has become popular... Cobb and Ruth are rolling over....

I couldn't imagine a team of baseball players having long hair...

... or that Babe Ruth would ever be associated with them...

Yep. Ultimately, these tattooed, long haired, rap-listening punks are playing the same game in the same way as Ruth and Gehrig. Baseball, Ray...

Is this what's going to happen to me when I get older?

"Some of these long-haired hippie types (dang if I don't sound like my grandfather) are just growing what they can 'til their beards become visable."

Of course, I'm not including the original 'Modern Caveman' Jason Werth or the 'Bee Hive' from Houston - those are fully grown.

I got caught up in it myself with relatives referring to me as 'Hemingway', but I plan to shave it off after some part-time holiday employment.

Holy Crap, my father-in-law is on Net54!!

Let's also have threads against jewelry, tattoos, praying, big beards, and guys that can't speak English.

To actually answer the Q, didn't long hair start in the 1960's?

Many clubs in the past had rules about facial hair and grooming. I'm sure some still do. Nothing wrong with that, players are still employees of an organization and an employer sets the dress and grooming code.

When Cam Newton was drafted, the Panthers owner told him that he ( the owner ) didn't want to see any tattoos on him ( Newton ). He was going to be paid handsomely, and there is an image that Newton needs to portray in the community, and the NFL. ( per the Panthers owner ).

You're right Ken. Threads on tattoos, jewelry, beards, ect....no matter what, it seems like someone will be offended about something. I'm waiting for the time when we're offended that someone was offended.

The Yankees are the only team in the league with that silly policy. Donnie Baseball made the Marlins do it for a year, but that's over.

Seems like a silly policy as some players may be inclined to not sign in they don't like it. Personally, I have not been clean shaven in 25 years and would not take a job with a company that would make me. I keep a well trimmed beard and it looks great and saves me the trouble of razor bumps and stubble.

What if the Yankees offered you a 5 yr guaranteed deal @ $10M per? :)
